| Im running vista...And I need to change my IP. I have a decent understanding of computers...But Ive never one time had a reason to change my IP address until now...I would think there would just be a simple program or something. Ive read on how to go to "Control Panel/Network and Sharing Center/Manage Network Connections/Properties/Internet Protocol Version 4" ...But I cant figure how to "enter the IP address, subnet mask, default gateway, and the preferred and alternate DNS IP addresses." | |

| everytime you disconnect and reconnect your DSL you get a dfferent ISP unless you have a static one where it is the same every time. | |

| If you have cable based internet then the IP stays the same constantly(Static IP), you will have to ring your ISP and ask for your IP to be changed to a Dynamic one if they offer that service | |

| Cable internet connections in the U.S. are hard-wired to a specific, static IP address. Depending on why you need to change your IP Address, spoofing, proxying, and routing are all ways you can change it. Can you be more specific with why you need to change your IP address? | |

Ok...I was unjustly banned off a site And they have banned my IP. I personaly think there was glitch somewhere because there was no way I got so far out of line that I got banned. | |

| For future reference, anytime you need to "change" your IP, you can use a proxy service like http://www.proxy4free.com. A proxy service is basically a server that intercepts all traffic coming from your IP address and sends it to the destination you intended, so that the recipient of the traffic sees the proxy IP address as the sender, and not you. Needless to say, one of the primary uses of proxying is anonymous web browsing. | |
